Choose a dimmer that works with your exact LED bulb model. A bulb marked "dimmable" won’t necessarily work with every dimmer.

Use the model number on the bulb or packaging to check the manufacturer’s recommended dimmers or compatibility list.

Many LED GU10 bulbs work with a trailing-edge LED dimmer; some need leading-edge control. Follow the bulb manufacturer’s specification, as either type can be designed for LEDs. [Varilight’s LED dimmer guide](https://www.varilight.co.uk/dimmers/dimmers-for-leds.php)

Add up the bulbs’ actual wattages, rather than their "halogen equivalent" figures. Six 5 W bulbs make a 30 W load. Check the dimmer’s minimum and maximum LED load, along with any limit on the number of bulbs. The halogen rating alone doesn’t tell you whether it’s compatible with LEDs. The flickering may come from an incompatible dimmer or an LED load that’s too small for your existing dimmer. If it happens only near minimum brightness, adjusting the minimum-brightness setting on a compatible dimmer may fix it. To suggest a suitable dimmer, I’d need the bulb make and model, the number of bulbs, and your country.
