**Choose a dimmer that is compatible with your exact LED bulb model.** “Dimmable” doesn’t mean a bulb works with every dimmer.

Check these three things:

- **Bulb compatibility:** Look up the bulb manufacturer’s recommended dimmers or compatibility list, using the model number on the bulb or packaging.
- **Dimming type:** Many LED GU10 bulbs suit a **trailing-edge LED dimmer**, but some require leading-edge control. Follow the bulb manufacturer’s specification; either type can be designed for LEDs. [Varilight’s LED dimmer guide](https://www.varilight.co.uk/dimmers/dimmers-for-leds.php)
- **LED load limits:** Add up the bulbs’ actual wattages—not their “halogen equivalent” figures. Six 5 W bulbs make a 30 W load. Check the dimmer’s minimum and maximum **LED** load and any limit on the number of bulbs. Its halogen rating alone doesn’t establish LED compatibility. Your flickering could be caused by an incompatible dimmer, but it could also mean the LED load is too small for the existing dimmer. **If it flickers only near minimum brightness**, a compatible dimmer’s minimum-brightness adjustment may resolve it. If you share the bulb make/model, the number of bulbs, and your country, I can help identify a suitable dimmer.
