I’d try an **activated-carbon filter inside the pail**, preferably one designed for your model. For example, [Diaper Genie carbon filters](https://diapergenie.com/products/diaper-genie-carbon-filter) fit the Complete, Deluxe and Platinum pails; the manufacturer recommends replacing them every 30 days. Treat it as extra odor control, rather than a complete fix.

The biggest clue is **“jamming the lid open.”** Empty the liner *before* diapers interfere with the lid or internal closure—even if the bag has space left. An absorber beside the pail is unlikely to keep up with odor continually escaping.

I’d also:

- Check that the liner isn’t caught in the closure and that the lid seals fully.
- Clean around the lid, seals and bag opening according to your pail’s instructions.
- Take especially smelly diapers straight to the outside trash, or empty the pail daily for a few days to see whether that solves it.

My first move would be earlier emptying, then a compatible carbon filter. Keep any odor-absorbing product out of your toddler’s reach.
