**You don’t need to buy another booster just because the babysitter’s car lacks LATCH.** Graco’s AFFIX manual permits use without the lower anchors: “If AFFIX booster is not connected to vehicle anchors, secure the booster seat with the lap/shoulder belt.” ([Graco manual, p. 8](https://download.gracobaby.com/ProductInstructionManuals/PD236799A.pdf))

In this booster, **the vehicle’s lap-and-shoulder belt restrains your child**. LATCH secures the booster itself and helps keep it positioned for buckling. Using the AFFIX without LATCH is an intended configuration; having unused LATCH connectors does not inherently make it less safe than a booster manufactured without them. That doesn’t mean every booster offers identical crash performance. ([Graco manual, p. 27](https://download.gracobaby.com/ProductInstructionManuals/PD236799A.pdf))

Before using it in the babysitter’s car, check:

- There’s a **lap-and-shoulder belt**, not a lap-only belt.
- The belt fits low across your child’s hips/upper thighs and across the shoulder and chest, following the AFFIX routing instructions.
- The vehicle seatback or head restraint supports your child’s head; Graco requires the tops of their ears to be below its top.
- **Buckle the empty booster in**, or remove it, when your child isn’t riding so it cannot become a projectile. ([Graco manual](https://download.gracobaby.com/ProductInstructionManuals/PD236799A.pdf), [NHTSA guidance](https://www.nhtsa.gov/car-seats-and-booster-seats/how-install-booster-seat))

Follow the manual matching your seat’s model and manufacture date, and show the babysitter the correct belt routing.
