**Use recessed fixtures designed for sloped ceilings, and position the sink light directly above the basin.** A fixed downlight mounted flush with a slope generally sends its beam perpendicular to the ceiling, which can put the brightest light away from your work area.

Since you already have the lights, check the model’s installation instructions before cutting holes:

- **Check whether they accept adjustable “gimbal” or “eyeball” trims, or a dedicated sloped-ceiling trim.** The housing, light module, and trim must be compatible. Some fixtures require a complete sloped-ceiling housing.
- **Match the adjustment range to your ceiling’s pitch.** To point vertically downward from a ceiling inclined 30° from horizontal, the light needs approximately 30° of tilt. Purpose-built fixtures accommodate specified slopes; for example, HALO’s slope system covers approximately 10°–45°. The layout also matters:

- **Over the sink:** locate the fixture vertically above the basin and aim it down into the sink. A light behind you can cast your head and shoulders’ shadow onto the work.
- **Along counters:** place ceiling lights over the working surface or near its front edge. Upper cabinets can still block ceiling light, so add under-cabinet lighting where applicable. [Lutron’s task-lighting guidance](https://www.lutron.com/us/en/articles/layered-lighting-tips)
- **Across the kitchen:** use overlapping light coverage. Have the supplier check beam spread and light output at the actual ceiling-to-counter distance; a high vault needs a layout suited to that height.

Before the ceiling is finished, have your electrician temporarily power a sample fixture safely at the proposed position. Stand at the sink and check the illumination while working with your hands. That will reveal shadows and glare while the layout is still easy to change.

If you share the fixture model, ceiling pitch, and height above the sink, I can help determine whether the lights you bought are suitable.
