**Your father can ask, but paying for the room does not automatically give him a right to know who stayed with you.** Assuming you’re an adult, whether the hotel may disclose that information depends on local law, its privacy policy, and any authority he has over the reservation.

**You should not assume it will stay private.** If he controls the booking account or receives reservation updates and the final bill, those could reveal information about an additional guest. A staff member could also disclose information mistakenly. Hotels may collect companions’ names; [Marriott’s privacy statement](https://www.marriott.com/about/privacy.mi), for example, expressly includes that information.

Before your friend stays, contact the hotel directly and say:

> “The reservation is in my name, and my father booked and paid for it. I want information about my visitors and anyone staying with me kept confidential. Please note that request and explain what information the person who booked will be able to access.”

Also ask whether your friend must register or show ID, and whether their name would appear on booking updates or the bill. A reservation for two people may still require registration of the second guest. Ask the hotel to use your own email and phone number for stay communications.

The hotel can explain its procedures, but **a confidentiality request cannot guarantee your father won’t find out**. What country is the hotel in, and are you 18 or older? Those details would help narrow down the legal position.
